Camellia sasanqua Hinode-Fuji
Camellia sasanqua Hime-Botan

Alternative Views:

Hime-Botan has white double flowers, usually lightly edged with pink, in the autumn. Vigorous, upright and bushy in habit, the leaves have an attractive mottled, silvery variagation, and in the spring the new growth is initially bright red.
This is one of the sasanquas that really does need plenty of summer sun and warmth in order to flower well. It did extremely well in 2018 after the long, hot summer that year, and also budded-up well in 2019. However, it may not flower prolifically following a cool, dull summer and in these conditions the flowers tend to have less pink on the petals. Definitely a variety that responds well to a good baking (with plenty of water!) in the summer months, but even without the flowers, the unusual foliage makes it an attractive evergreen shrub.
