Hime-Botan has white double flowers, usually lightly edged with pink, in the autumn. Vigorous, upright and bushy in habit, the leaves have an attractive mottled, silvery variagation, and in the spring the new growth is initially bright red. However, we have found it to be very shy to flower - it may do so if grown in a particularly warm and sunny position, or indeed as the plant gets older. Even without the flowers, the unusual foliage makes it an attractive evergreen shrub.

Update Autumn 2018
Following the long, hot summer Hime-Botan is flowering magnificently this year. The plants have made plenty of buds, and the flowers have much more pink on the petals than in previous, cooler years. Definitely a variety that needs a good baking in the summer months!
