Blueberry 'Osorno'
Blueberry 'Osorno'

‘Osorno’ has very large, light-blue fruit with excellent firmness and flavour which ripens in early to mid-season (July). The plant is vigorous, upright, bushy and slightly spreading, growing to about 1.4m high and 1.1m across.
‘Osorno’ was bred from ‘Draper’, and shares many of its characteristics, but has slightly larger, sweeter fruit and is a more vigorous, generally higher yielding plant. It tolerates hot summers well, but the flower buds are not as frost resistant as ‘Draper’. ‘Osorno’ should do well in warmer areas, whereas ‘Draper’ will cope better with extreme winter cold.

Features:
  • Introduced in 2013 from the Michigan State University breeding programme.
  • Developed from a cross between ‘Draper’ and ‘Legacy’.
  • Protected by Plant Breeders Rights.
