Camellia fraterna
camellia species C.fraterna

Camellia fraterna is a medium sized shrub that is native to the evergreen forests of southeastern China. In late winter and early spring it produces small, slightly fragrant white flowers which tend to hang down along the stems. The leaves are small and greyish-green, and the plant habit is open and lax, with drooping branches. If provided with shelter it is sufficiently hardy to be grown in milder areas of the UK (we have found it will cope with temperatures down to -8C), where it can make an excellent garden plant.
