Camellia japonica Kimberley
Camellia japonica Kimberley

Alternative Views:

Probably originated from Japan, and introduced into Belgium by the Sanders nursery around 1900.
Single flowers with 5 or 6 vivid scarlet petals that have a shiny appearance. The stamens are joined near their base and arranged in a hemisphere, unlike the columnar form of the stamens in many single flowers. The leaves are deep green, glossy and elliptical shaped, often curving towards the tips. The plant has a vigorous and upright habit with a tendency for the growth to be open. Flowers in March and April.
Kimberley first appeared in the West in the catalogue of the Sander Nursery in Belgium in around 1900, and probably originated in Japan.
