Camellia hybrid Blissful Dawn
Camellia hybrid Blissful Dawn

Large to very large, semi-double flowers, with white petals shaded pink towards the edge. Fairly vigorous, upright, open growth habit. Flowers February to March.

A cross between C.reticulata and 'Donation' (raised by Os Blumhardt in New Zealand, 1982) and the reticulata parentage can clearly be seen in the large flowers and leaves, stiff stems and open habit.

5 of 5 A hardy reticulata hybrid that buds up well February 25, 2024
Reviewer: Chip Lima from Callander, Scotland
I was sceptical that Blissful Dawn would be hardy in this climate in central Scotland, where we normally have -10c each winter.  I can confirm that it is fully hardy to at least -12c and that it sets flower bud as a young plant, so no waiting for flowers like with japonicas here.  One of the best!
