One of the range of cold hardy camellias bred by Dr William Ackerman in the US, from a cross between Camellia japonica 'Tricolor' and Camellia oleifera. The flowers are bright red and vary from semi-double to a rose-form double, the stamens being composed of yellow anthers and cream filaments. Relatively slow growing, compact and bushy with dark green leaves. Quite late flowering in the camellia season, so usually from the end of March and going into May.
