Blueberry Workshops

Local horticulturist and author, Jennifer Trehane, is hosting two Blueberry Workshops at the Nursery on Saturday 24th and Sunday 25th July.

A great introduction for anyone looking to grow blueberries in the garden or containers, these highly practical workshops will also provide some fascinating background information on how the UK’s first blueberries came to be planted here in East Dorset.

The workshops, which take place at the beginning of the pick-your-own season at the nursery, will also see the local launch of Jennifer’s new book "Blueberries for Everyone".

Jennifer’s expertise on all ericaceous plants is acknowledged worldwide with reference texts including the RHS Plant Collectors Guide "Blueberries, Cranberries and other Vacciniums".  Her new book is a highly illustrated, practical and easy-to-follow guide and aims to help everyone to enjoy their own fresh blueberries every year.

The Blueberry Workshops will take place at 2pm on 24th and 25th July and are expected to last about one hour. In addition to the workshops and PYO, there will also be an opportunity to purchase a signed copy of Jennifer’s book, buy a range of blueberry products and take advantage of some special plant offers.

The workshops cost £5 per person, which includes tea and cookies. Places are limited so early booking is advised on 01202 873490.

 Update:

Following the success of these workshops, the first that we have run, we are likely to be holding similar events in future, for both blueberries and camellias - watch this space!
