Blueberry Pick-Your-Own

Spring Flowers in the Blueberry Field

Our PYO Plantation is on the same site as the Camellia Nursery. Planted in 1965 it was one of the first UK blueberry plantings.  The bushes are grown entirely naturally with no chemical fertilisers, herbicides or pesticides. We do not even have irrigation on many of the PYO rows which means the bushes have to send out roots searching for water and nutrients. This leads to intense flavoured fruit - rated by a leading supermarket as the finest tasting blueberries they stock all year.

Picking under cover in the tunnel

There are five main varieties available. All the rows are marked so you can get to know the different flavours and textures and decide which is your favourite - will it be 'Ivanhoe' or perhaps 'Herbert', described by one TV chef as the 'Champagne Blueberry'?

Our 2008 PYO price was £6.50 per kilo which makes the fruit considerably cheaper than even the most desperate supermarket special offers! On top of that, picking them is an enjoyable experience with very little bending, in a relaxing rural environment.

A friendly welcome at the PYO hut

If you add in the health benefits of blueberries - high in antioxidants, vitamins A, B, C & E and cholesterol free - plus the minimal 'food miles' when you pick your own, it is no wonder that the PYO is becoming increasingly popular each year. We look forward to seeing you here next year!

*Also for sale on site are the Dorset Blueberry Company's Blueberry and Apple Juice, Blueberry Jam, plus Spiced, Dessert and Barbecue Blueberry Sauces.*
